My AI-built app works but every change breaks something: what now?

Stop adding features and have the code read, because an app built with Lovable, Bolt, Cursor or Replit often repeats the same logic in several places, so a fix in one misses the others. A review shows where the code is tangled, what to untangle first and where tests would catch the next break before your users do.

Evidence

AI tools write code that works for the prompt in front of them. They do not always remember what they wrote last week, so the app grows by copying rather than by sharing, and every new feature adds another way for one change to undo another.

  • 17.4% of WASBuilder tickets needed rework before they shipped, caught by tests and review
  • 454 Go test functions in TaskTree, 35 of them driving a real Chrome
  • 149 API routes in TaskTree, each counted by a test so none goes in untested

Repeated logic. The same rule written three times is three places to change and two to forget. The tool fixes the copy you pointed it at, and the others carry on doing the old thing.

Dead ends. Code from earlier prompts that nothing uses any more, but that still looks as if it matters, so neither you nor the tool dares remove it.

No tests. Without automated tests, the only way to find out what a change broke is for a user to tell you. In TaskTree, which I built with AI coding agents, every API route is counted by a test, so a change that breaks one is caught before it ships.

What it takes

Read access to the repository, and a list of the things that broke the last few times you changed something.

Five business days. The report says how the code is organised, where the tool repeated itself or left dead ends, what will break the next time a feature is added, and whether another developer could pick it up, with every finding ranked so you know what to fix first.

The honest limits: the audit covers security and code only, and it does not rewrite the app. You or your developer make the fixes. If the project has outgrown a single founder, see software project rescue and takeover.

Next step

Before the next feature, find out why the last one broke something. The Vibe Code Audit is a fixed-price security and code review for apps built with Lovable, Bolt, Cursor and Replit.
